Energy, quality inspection and control technologies have received attention, and MES has become a hot spot for enterprise informationization in recent years.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation stated that it is necessary to proceed from the perspective of building a world-class energy and chemical company to deepen its understanding of the importance and urgency of informationization work; actively and steadily push forward the pilot construction of refinery companies' smart factories; and do a good job of information systems. The main production processes of iron and steel enterprises basically universalize basic automation. Large enterprises generally adopt a relatively complete automation control system. MES (Manufacturing Execution System) has received widespread attention from steel companies. Baosteel has built a relatively complete basic automation, process control system, and MES, and has a four-level computer system that integrates vertically from the bottom up, and realizes seamless integration from each process control system to the company-level management information system.

In recent years, most companies have established different levels of management information systems. Most large and medium-sized enterprises in the raw material industry have implemented large-scale integrated management information systems such as ERP, of which the development of information management in iron and steel industry enterprises is more prominent. WISCO independently developed a decision support model for six-dimensional price system for product sales, data warehousing and data mining, and established an enterprise-level management system that was adapted to the entire process of steel. Nonferrous and medium-sized enterprises have established different levels of management information systems, and some large-scale key enterprises have established supply chain management systems and ERP systems. At the same time, the business management of the company achieves integration of management and control, integration of production and sales, and integration of upstream and downstream industries. The sales generated by e-commerce in chemical companies accounted for more than 20% of total sales, and its application efficiency was more than double the national average. The petrochemical industry has a high degree of informatization in website promotion and material procurement. Some large companies have begun to try online sales and transactions. PetroChina's retail management information system has been widely applied and has realized the direct monitoring of substation gas station business data and facilities and equipment operations.
