At the China SME Innovation and Development Achievement Exhibition, held from July 19 to July 22, Luoyang Zhongye Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. officially launched the ZY1200 automatic new wall brick hydroforming machine, marking a significant breakthrough in the industry. Prior to its introduction, no similar product had been available in the Henan market, making this innovation particularly notable. The ZY1200 is equipped with seven domestic technical patents and has overcome many common issues found in both domestic and international molding machines. This high-tech device integrates mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and wall construction technologies, and it has broad applications across industries such as power, metallurgy, and chemicals. Each unit can process nearly 100,000 tons of industrial waste annually, including pulverized coal, fly ash, slag, and calcium carbide slag, transforming them into useful building materials. Ai Xin, assistant general manager of China Metallurgical Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the machine's potential. He told China Modern Enterprise News that the ZY1200 has drawn considerable attention because it can convert industrial wastes like fly ash, slag, and calcium carbide slag into bricks through steam curing. This not only reduces environmental pollution but also promotes resource recycling, turning waste into valuable products. Historically, the development of autoclaved fly ash bricks was limited by the lack of large-scale hydroforming equipment. Before 2005, China primarily relied on imported fully automatic hydroforming machines or modified ceramic presses from domestic manufacturers. While imported equipment offered stable performance, it came at a high cost—three to four times more than domestic alternatives—and often faced long spare parts supply delays, affecting production efficiency. Domestic options, although cheaper, were less reliable and struggled to meet design output targets, leading to financial losses for some brick manufacturers. To address these challenges, China Metallurgical Heavy Industry restructured its operations and focused on developing environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and waste-comprehensive products. Leveraging its R&D capabilities and manufacturing expertise, the company collaborated with universities, research institutes, and brick producers to assemble a team of experts in the new wall material industry. It established a technical center and a dedicated project team for new wall material equipment development, investing over 5 million yuan in the process. Through technology absorption and independent innovation, the company successfully developed the ZY1200, which now offers the highest production capacity and automation level among domestically produced hydroforming machines. It is user-friendly, safe, and features independent intellectual property rights, making it an ideal solution for processing industrial waste such as fly ash.
