The newly introduced high-temperature and high-pressure hydraulic turbine energy-saving equipment at Daqing Petrochemical Refinery, part of PetroChina, has recently begun operation on the 1.2 million tons/year hydrocracking unit. This advanced system has significantly improved energy efficiency, saving approximately 2.49 million kWh annually and reducing electricity costs by RMB 1.42 million. As a result, the energy consumption of the unit has been lowered by 1.51%, marking a major step forward in sustainable operations. The equipment was imported from Japan's Ebara Corporation and is specifically designed to recover pressure energy from the hydrocracking process. The turbine operates under a differential pressure of 11 MPa between its inlet and outlet, making it highly effective in capturing otherwise wasted energy. The 1.2 million tons/year hydrocracking unit, which became operational in August 2004, is one of the newer facilities at the refinery. Originally designed with a hot high-pressure oil product outlet temperature of 230°C and a pressure of 13 MPa, this type of high-temperature, high-pressure medium posed a challenge for energy recovery in many domestic petrochemical plants. However, with the introduction of this new technology, Daqing Petrochemical has successfully addressed this issue, setting a benchmark for energy efficiency in the industry.
