On July 29, reporters learned that during the upcoming "Summer Davos in China" annual meeting, the Dalian Expo Plaza will fully utilize seawater heat pump systems for cooling and heating, marking it as a key landmark for this year's event. The initiative aims to showcase Dalian's energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies to global leaders and business figures, demonstrating the city's commitment to the "Green Davos" philosophy through real action.
In 2006, the Ministry of Construction designated the seawater source heat pump project in the Xinghai Bay Business District as one of the first demonstration projects for renewable energy use in construction. Dalian was also recognized as the only pilot city in China for large-scale application of seawater source heat pump technology. Last year, the city released its "11th Five-Year Plan for Promoting the Application of Seawater Source Heat Pumps," setting a goal to provide heating and cooling services using this technology across eight areas, including Xiaoping Island, Changxing Island, and Xinghai Bay, covering a total area of 7.73 million square meters.
By early July this year, the seawater source heat pump project in the Xinghai Bay Business District had successfully completed a 300,000-square-meter cooling and heating system. As a result, during the "Summer Davos in China," Dalian will launch an initiative urging global participants to take joint actions against climate change and offset greenhouse gas emissions from their travel to the city.
To support these efforts, the city will focus on energy saving and emission reduction throughout the event. Official transportation will prioritize the use of energy-efficient vehicles, further reinforcing Dalian's green agenda and its role as a model for sustainable urban development.
