Thermocouple installation requirements

For the installation of thermocouples , it should be noted that it is conducive to accurate temperature measurement, safety, reliability, and easy maintenance. It does not affect equipment operation and production operations. To meet the above requirements, pay attention to the following points when selecting the mounting location and insertion depth for thermocouples and thermal resistors:

 

1. In order to make sufficient heat exchange between the measuring end of the thermocouple and the measured medium, the position of the measuring point should be reasonably selected to avoid installing thermocouples or thermal resistors near the dead angles of valves, elbows, pipes and equipment. ;

2, if you must not be installed in the elbow, but also try to install the top in the direction of the fluid, rather than the top along the fluid direction (. Everyone can carefully figure out if you have any questions, you can always communicate with me.

 

3, thermocouple with protective sleeve has heat transfer and heat loss, in order to reduce measurement error, thermocouple and thermal resistance

 

Thermocouples should have enough insertion depth:

(1) For thermocouples that measure the temperature of the fluid in the center of the pipe, the measurement end should generally be inserted into the center of the pipe (vertically or obliquely). If the diameter of the pipe to be measured is 200 mm, the insertion depth of the thermocouple or RTD should be 100 mm.

(2) For temperature measurement of high temperature, high pressure and high velocity fluids (such as main steam temperature), in order to reduce the resistance of the protective sleeve to the fluid and to prevent the protective sleeve from breaking under the action of the fluid. Shallow insertion type thermocouple protection sleeve, the depth of its insertion into the main steam pipe should not be less than 8 to 10 times the diameter of the probe. As our conventional 6mm probe, it is often recommended that the minimum insertion depth is 50mm;

(3) If it is required to measure the temperature of the flue gas in the flue, although the diameter of flue is 4m, the thermocouple or RTD can be inserted to a depth of 1 m;

(4) When measuring the depth of the original inserted more than 1m, it should be installed as far as possible vertically, or install support frame and protective sleeve.
