China National Heavy Duty Truck: Sales of heavy trucks dropped 17% in the first five months
From January to May this year, the company's heavy truck production reached 40,447 units, marking a year-on-year decline of 10.17%. Sales during the same period totaled 32,096 units, reflecting a steeper drop of 16.98%. Specifically, in May alone, the company produced 7,010 heavy trucks and sold 8,171 units.
In addition, the company disclosed that the actual controller, China Heavy-Duty Vehicle Group Co., Ltd., had reported to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers that its May 2009 output was 9,370 units, with sales reaching 12,110 units. For the first five months of this year, the group’s cumulative production stood at 56,551 units, down 10.98% compared to the same period last year. Cumulative sales for the same period were 58,086 units, representing a year-on-year decrease of 4.28%. Notably, these figures include Sinotruk’s production and sales data.
This performance highlights the challenges faced by the industry amid shifting market conditions. While the company managed to maintain some level of activity in May, the overall trend remains downward, underscoring the need for strategic adjustments. Analysts are closely watching how the company will respond to these declines, especially as competition intensifies and demand fluctuates.
