A tractor-trailer collided with a dump truck this morning on Route 22 in Long Grove, resulting in a tragic fatality. According to the Lake County News Sun, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. when a 2005 semi-truck was traveling eastbound on Route 22 near Krueger Road. The driver lost control and veered into the westbound lanes, colliding with a dump truck. Despite the dump truck driver’s attempt to avoid the crash, both vehicles ended up on the roadside shoulder. The semi-truck driver was trapped inside the cab for approximately 30 minutes before being rescued by emergency responders. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center but later succumbed to his injuries. The dump truck driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital for treatment. Eyewitness Tim Olk was on the scene and captured several photos of the damaged vehicles. The images show the severe impact the collision had on the semi-truck, which was significantly damaged. The crash has left the community in shock, and authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Local residents have expressed concern over road safety, especially on busy routes like Route 22. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and traffic was temporarily disrupted during the response and cleanup efforts.
