I recently came across some production photos of a custom pumper being built by Ferrara for the Troy Fire Protection District (FPD), and I couldn't help but share my thoughts. This particular rig is designated as H-6535, and it looks like it’s shaping up to be an impressive piece of firefighting equipment.
From what I can gather, this pumper is a true custom build designed specifically for the needs of the Troy FPD. The department has clearly put a lot of thought into its specifications, which include some top-tier features. For starters, the chassis is a Cinder, known for its durability and reliability in heavy-duty applications. The body is crafted from extruded aluminum, which not only makes it lightweight but also ensures long-lasting performance even under extreme conditions.
The pump setup is a top-mount model, providing efficient water delivery—a must-have for any serious fire apparatus. It’s paired with an Akron 3126 foam system, which is widely regarded as one of the best options available today. The tank capacity stands at an impressive 1000 gallons of water, ensuring that firefighters have ample resources on hand during critical operations.
Looking at the photos, the craftsmanship is evident. Every detail appears to have been meticulously considered, from the layout of the controls to the ergonomic placement of tools and equipment. These images give me confidence that this pumper will serve the Troy FPD well for years to come.
Attached are two photos from Ferrara Fire Apparatus showing different angles of the build process. They really capture the essence of how these vehicles go from raw materials to fully functional firefighting machines. If you’re into emergency vehicles or just appreciate quality engineering, these photos are worth a closer look.
Overall, this pumper seems like it’ll be a great asset for the Troy FPD, combining cutting-edge technology with practical design elements. It’s exciting to see how modern fire trucks are evolving to meet the demands of today’s firefighting teams.
