Dennis McGuire, Jr. came across a 1976 Hendrickson/EONE pumper for sale through an online listing. This particular engine, originally assigned to Fox Lake Engine 25, has an interesting history that showcases the evolution of fire department equipment over time.
The first image shows the engine as it was delivered in 1976, painted in its original red color with the "Engine 25" designation. The photo, taken by Larry Shapiro, captures the vehicle in its early years when it served the community as part of the Fox Lake Fire Department’s fleet.
Later on, the engine was renumbered as Engine 2213 and repainted to match the department's newer trucks. This change reflects how fire departments often update their vehicles to maintain a consistent look and improve operational efficiency. Again, Larry Shapiro captured this transformation, providing a visual record of the engine’s new identity.
Another photograph, taken by Bill Friedrich, highlights Engine 2213 in its later years. It gives a closer look at the truck’s condition and design, showing how it continued to serve the community long after its initial delivery. These images not only document the vehicle’s journey but also offer a glimpse into the history of fire apparatus in the area.
