Excerpts from ChicagoTribune.com:

Due to significant legal challenges at the state level, the Carpentersville Fire Department, East Dundee Fire Protection District, and West Dundee Fire Department have decided not to pursue full consolidation right now. However, the fire chiefs remain committed to the idea as a long-term goal.

“It doesn’t mean we’re giving up or doing nothing,” said West Dundee Fire Chief Randy Freise. “We just don’t want to rush into something that’s too complex all at once. We’re taking it step by step.”

In November 2014, representatives from the Carpentersville Village Board, East Dundee and Countryside Fire Protection District, and West Dundee Village Board spent $30,908 on a study conducted by Emergency Services Consulting International. The findings from that in-depth analysis suggested that consolidating fire services could be beneficial.

But during a recent board meeting, Freise explained that after reviewing the study, the fire departments concluded that a full legal consolidation at this time would be too difficult. A new state law passed within the past 18 months has added extra steps, including referendums and court appearances, making the process more complicated and less flexible for local authorities.

The fire departments plan to continue working toward a potential full consolidation in the future. This includes forming work groups with members from each department and municipality, aiming to develop a regional approach that benefits everyone involved. They also plan to establish a regional board composed of fire chiefs and local trustees to evaluate the recommendations from these groups.

Additionally, the fire chiefs are set to meet with State Senator Karen McConnaughay this month to discuss the current legal barriers to consolidation. “Our goal is to bring awareness to local legislators about how difficult the state laws are making this process and see if we can push for some changes to make it more efficient,” Freise said.

Freise also mentioned that recently, the chief from the Rutland-Dundee Township Fire Protection District expressed interest in joining the conversation about future consolidation efforts. “Rutland-Dundee has been a missing piece in our regional puzzle for a long time,” he said. “We’ve stayed in touch with them and will continue to do so, no matter what the future holds.”

BOPP Thermal Lamination Film

BOPP Thermal Lamination Film is a type of heat laminating film made from biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) as the base material and processed through special coating or composite techniques. It is mainly used for surface lamination of printed materials (such as book covers, packaging boxes, posters, etc.) to enhance their wear resistance, water resistance, glossiness and aesthetic appeal.

1. Key Feature
-High transparency: Maintaining the clarity and vividness of colors of printed materials.
-Excellent rigidity & flatness: BOPP substrate offers good stiffness and anti-curling property.
-Hot melt adhesive layer: Usually EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) or PUR (polyurethane) hot melt adhesives are adopted to ensure a firm bond.
-Temperature resistance: Adapt to the heating roller temperature of the laminating machine (typically 80~120℃).
-Waterproof and moisture-proof: Protect printed materials from the influence of moisture and stains.
-Glossy film: High gloss, enhancing visual effect.
-Matte film: Anti-glare, improving texture.
-Scratch-resistant/UV-resistant: Special coating to extend durability.

2. Application Fields
-Printing and Packaging: Book covers, picture albums, color boxes, labels.
-Commercial Promotion: Posters, menus, business cards, tags.
-Industrial Uses: Electronic product instructions, waterproof maps.

3. Production Process
-BOPP base film production: Two-dimensional stretched polypropylene film (to enhance strength and transparency).
-Coating/Composite: Apply hot melt adhesive (such as EVA) onto the BOPP substrate.
-Cutting & Conveying: Cut into different widths according to customer requirements (commonly 450mm/600mm etc.).
