Morning News The construction of Shanghai World Financial Center yesterday set a world record. After 4 pm, the ultra-high pressure “China Pump” pumped the concrete to the construction height of 492 meters for pouring construction, which set a world record of 406 meters created during the construction of the Hong Kong International Finance Center in 2002. This move proves to the world that China's concrete pumping machinery research and development and manufacturing has reached world-class level.

According to the conventional practice, concrete transportation during high-rise construction relies on tower cranes to transport concrete up and down. If this method is applied to the construction of Shanghai World Financial Center, it takes at least half an hour to transport concrete back and forth, and the construction period will be greatly constrained. For this purpose, the builder uses a super-pumping method to place concrete into a pipe with a diameter of 125 mm and a height of 600 m, which is pumped upwards.

Power is an important core technology to transport concrete to 492 meters. The pump designed specifically for the World Financial Center project provides extremely strong pressure, which is equivalent to pressing 350 kilograms of weight on the size of the fingernail.
