The Long Grove Fire Protection District received a call about smoke in a building this morning at 2328 Nichols Road. First-arriving units reported light smoke and discovered a fire in the rear storage room. The fire was quickly extinguished within 10 minutes, though it filled the entire three-story structure with smoke. Mutual aid included engine companies from Palatine, Palatine Rural, and Lake Zurich. Buffalo Grove Tower 25 served as the truck company, while ambulances arrived from Wheeling and Barrington to assist with any injuries.
Photos from the scene show the efforts of firefighters responding to the incident. Buffalo Grove Tower 25 and Long Grove Squad 55 were positioned in front of the building, ready to tackle the fire. Squad 55 had one hose line deployed, and the fire was located in the rear of the first floor. A Long Grove Tanker 55 was on scene, supplying water from a hydrant to support the operation. Buffalo Grove Tower 25 was also seen using reserve apparatus to ensure full coverage during the response.
This quick action by the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading further and minimized damage to the property. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Local residents are advised to remain cautious and report any unusual activity to emergency services.
