This is a message from John Tobin, who attended Saturday’s memorial service commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Ben Franklin Store fire in Palatine, which took the lives of three firefighters.
Ben Franklin Fire Tribute………The Fallen Three – Feb 23, 1973.
It was truly touching to see so many friends and family members come together to honor those who gave their lives. I captured some great moments: Plote transporting the precious cargo, two old fire trucks reunited after 25 years apart, the honor guard, the PFD rural pumper, and the families of the fallen firefighters. The PFD memorial was especially moving. It's amazing how emotions still run deep all these years later.
Yours truly,
John Tobin
