This is from Larry Shapiro: Arlington Heights firefighters were called to a house on 127 N. Evanston Avenue around 6:30 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2016, after reports of smoke coming from the property. The first arriving units found heavy smoke billowing from the split-level home, which was located in a cul-de-sac. Due to the rapid spread of smoke and the potential for a larger fire, the incident was upgraded to a Code 4 working fire. This prompted additional resources from Arlington Heights, along with a truck from Mount Prospect and an engine from Prospect Heights. Firefighters quickly gained access to the attic through a scuttle and managed to bring the fire under control within just 20 minutes. Their swift response helped prevent further damage and ensured the safety of the residents. It’s always impressive to see how well-trained and coordinated the local fire departments are in handling such emergencies.
