Dependence of Tobacco Growth on Soil Moisture

Soil water is the basic water source for the growth of flue-cured tobacco. Soil moisture status is a key factor in determining the growth, yield and quality of flue-cured tobacco. As an important economic pillar industry in Guizhou, tobacco currently faces problems such as uneven distribution of water resources and seasonal drought and water shortages. With the development of society and economy, the water consumption in industry and life has risen sharply, and the conflicts between other water use and tobacco agriculture have become increasingly intensified. Therefore, it is particularly important to develop agricultural water conservation and implement smoke and water facilities in Guizhou. Water-saving agriculture is also the main content of the Central Document No. 1 this year. It can be seen that there are multiple positions of water resources in agriculture. The wireless public opinion monitoring system is an instrument commonly used in soil moisture measurement. The instrument can simultaneously record the changes of rainfall and soil moisture, and can see that the curve of soil moisture changes simultaneously with the increase or decrease of rainfall. In modern agriculture, wireless public opinion monitoring systems play a huge guiding role.

The moisture content of tobacco-planting soil in the main tobacco-growing areas of Guizhou showed a decreasing trend with the increase of soil water suction, and it decreased sharply before 0.06×105 Pa, and then it was slower, that is, the characteristics of the soil were relatively steep at low suction. As the suction increases gradually, the shape of the water characteristic curve at the same depth of the collection point is similar to the change trend, but there is a significant difference in the degree of increase or decrease; the water holding capacity of the soil layer at different depths at the same collection point. The characteristics do not reflect the obvious vertical change rules, and their water holding characteristics still mainly depend on the physical and chemical properties. The effective water content of different tobacco-planting soils in Guizhou varies greatly. The effective amount of water at the same sampling point generally decreases as the soil depth increases. The soil available water content was significantly negatively correlated with soil bulk density, positively correlated with capillary pore content, and had a significant positive correlation with soil organic matter content. That is, the smaller the soil bulk density is, the more pores of the opposite capillary are, and the higher the effective moisture content is; the higher the organic matter content of the soil is, the higher the effective moisture content of the soil is. The amount of soil moisture is directly related to the growth of this tobacco. Increasing the porosity of soil capillary can promote the water supply capacity of the soil in the whole range of suction; decreasing the content of soil clay can promote the water supply capacity of the soil in the low suction section; Organic matter content can also increase the specific water capacity of the soil, thereby increasing the effectiveness of soil moisture. Therefore, in actual production, timely and proper soil loosening and straw returning to the field can increase the effectiveness of soil moisture and ensure that tobacco seedlings get sufficient moisture.
