This report comes from Eric Haak:

Engine 126 arrived at 7733 S. South Shore Drive just before 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and found a fire on the third floor of a five-story apartment building. The fire was quickly contained within 10 minutes, as it had begun to spread to the unit above the original fire location. Emergency calls came in from distressed residents on the fourth floor, prompting immediate action. Firefighters evacuated through the basement garage and also exited via a window on the third floor of the front of the building. A dog was rescued from the fire floor and given chest compressions and oxygen in an attempt to revive it, but unfortunately, the efforts were unsuccessful. One resident was taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation from a neighboring apartment. Residents later told authorities that there were no working smoke detectors on the fire floor, raising concerns about fire safety in the building.
